The final nominees were unveiled on Monday, August 3 in
London by a star cast of FIFA Legends.
The FIFA Best Awards have announced their final
shortlist for Men's Player Award, which includes
Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Mohamed Salah
but without Lionel Messi.
Ronaldo made the shortlist after finishing as highest
Goalscorer in the Champions League while helping Real
Madrid to third straight Champions League title.
Modric » was a crucial player in that historic Real Madrid
side and also went on to lead Croatia to the 2018 FIFA
World Cup final where they lost to France.
Salah finished the 2017/2018 Premier League season with 32
goals and also scored 10 times as Liverpool reached the final
of the Champions League where they lost to Real Madrid.
Despite winning a La Liga and Copa del Rey -double with
Barcelona and finishing as the highest league goalscorer in
Europe, Messi.
In what might be a sign of what to come, Modric was last
week named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year Award beating
Ronaldo and Salah.
The announcements were revealed on Monday, August 3 in
London by a star cast of FIFA Legends in London including
Kanu Nwankwo.
Ronaldo has won Men's Player of the Year twice since FIFA
started their award after parting ways with France Football
for FIFA Ballon d'Or .
Belgian and now Real Madrid shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois,
France and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris and Leicester City ’s
Danish star Kasper Schmeichel will battle for Goalkeeper of
the Year.
For Coach of the Year, Croatia’s manager Dalic Zlatko, Didier
Deschamps of France and former Real Madrid boss Zinedine
Zidane make the final shortlist for Men’s Coach Award.
Zlatko led Croatia’s impressive World Cup campaign where
there were beaten in the final by Deschamps’ France while
Zidane won his third straight Champions League title as
coach of Real Madrid.
