Impeachment : He'll leave Senate President's seat for a loyal member - APC dares Saraki to reconvene the Senate

The ruling party has dared the Senate President to
reconvene the Senate
- The APC said it would ensure Bukola Saraki leaves the seat
of the Senate President for a loyal party member
- The party said Saraki will be impeached democratically
The leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has
dared the Senate President Bukola Saraki to reconvene the
Senate if he was not loosing sleep over possibility of his
impeachment as claimed.
The spokesperson for the ruling party, Yekini Nabena,
responding to a recent statement by the Senate President
said Saraki would leave the seat of the Senate President for
a loyal member.
Reports made us to know that Nabena said all legal process must be
followed to impeach the Senate President.
He said: “Like we’ve said it before, he will be removed
democratically. Let him reconvene the Senate first since he
feels we in the APC don’t have the numbers required to
impeach him.
“As far as we are concerned, he will leave that seat for a
loyal party member to occupy. It is a question of morality, he
has left our party which has the majority of Senators and as
a party, we agree with our senators that a member of the
minority party cannot rule over the majority," Nabena said.
But speaking on the issue, the spokesperson for the Senate
President, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said due process would be
followed to reconvene the Senate.
Olaniyonu said: “The Senate is on recess as you know, when
it is time to reconvene, due process will be followed.”
Meanwhile, it was previously reported that Saraki had on
Saturday, August 25, said he was not losing sleep over the
plot by the APC to impeach as president of the Senate.
The senate president while speaking to journalists in Asaba
after a closed door meeting with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said
it was a lie that the Senate did reconvene due to fear of his
impeachment.
